Clipping Masks

Confine raster textures and brush strokes strictly inside a boundary.

Clipping masks allow you to paint freely without worrying about spilling outside a silhouette or shape boundary.

  1. Place your target raster layer directly above the base shape layer in the Layers panel.
  2. Right-click the top layer and choose Create Clipping Mask (or press Ctrl + Alt + G).
  3. The top layer is now visually constrained to the exact outline of the bottom layer. You can paint, adjust colors, or apply textured brushes freely.
